What are Course Credits
Course credit is measurement of a subject. In India students take 5 subjects whereas in US students take 5 subjects of 3 units each.No of units determine the amount of course load. 3 unit course will have a little more work than a 2 unit course. In a masters program student has to complete 30 course credit units spread over 10 courses or subjects.
Transfer of Units
Sometimes students want to shift to other universities for whatever reasons they can transfer only 6 units. This means that in the new school they have to do 24 credits units of course work instead of 30 units. It makes sense tranferring only after the first semester because only 6 units can be transferred.
Few Important Notes
a)  Course load depends on the professor and students can not challenge him/her.
b)  Units of pre-requisites are not counted in 30 units.
