Computer Science department in San Francisco State University is the 2nd biggest department in the university in terms
of number of masters students enrolling each year. CS Department allows
students to specialize in three major
a) General Concentration
b) Software Engineering -   Software Engineering Course Description
c) Computer Life Science -   Computer Life ScienceCourse Description
d) Business Computing - Business ComputingCourse Description
Computer Science department doesn’t offer more common and popular specializations like ‘Databases’ or ‘Computer Networking’, but students can choos from a large pool of available courses which comes under Genral specialization.
The courses available are a mixed bag of simple and difficult level courses.

It is advisable for students to finish off their core courses in the first two semesters (one in the third semester is also okay) and keep the electives to finish off in the last semesters.
It is recommended for new students to have a good knowledge of C and object-oriented languages (esp. C++ and JAVA) before coming to United States as it definitely helps a lot in most of the classes. Also, brush up your concepts of HTML, CSS and some scripting language like Javascript, PHP/JSP.It is advisable to brush up on the mentioned language before coming to US as after coming here students usually get busy in arranging for accomodation,jobs and other non-academic requirments.
